If there's one thing Houstonians know, it's that life is better in boots... especially when those boots are made for helping kids kick cancer.
That was certainly the case this past March, when Dr. Dooley and Smile Texas teamed up with Sky High for Kids at the "Better in Boots" Sporting Clay Tournament and Western Gala, helping support an incredible effort that raised more than $3 million to help children fighting cancer.
Smile Texas was proud to participate in the gala, where we helped raise $300,000 by auctioning Smile Makeovers, with ten donors contributing $30,000 each in support of the cause. These proceeds went directly to Sky High, helping fund their mission and the Donate a Smile program. Through this partnership, Smile Texas is honored to restore the smiles of children undergoing cancer treatment, giving them renewed confidence during an incredibly difficult time.
When children undergo cancer treatments, their smiles often pay the price. Chemotherapy and radiation treatments, while necessary to help beat cancer, can wreak havok on a child's developing systems, resulting in multiple dental issues: weakened enamel, severe decay, and missing adult teeth, to name a few.
Donate a Smile helps these kids heal some of the damage done during that struggle by allowing our Smile Texas team to go in and deliver custom restorative smile care. This can be anything from dental implants and veneers to full smile restorations. Our specialists offer the necessary treatments to help these brave kids move forward with confidence.
